Sakran Valley: A Hidden Paradise Near Choman

Sakran Valley lies to the east of Choman, just 180 kilometers from Erbil. This breathtaking destination draws visitors with its lush scenery and peaceful environment. Every summer, temperatures in the valley rarely exceed 25 degrees, offering a cool retreat compared to nearby cities.

What makes Sakran Valley truly special is its untouched natural beauty. Green hills, wildflowers, and fresh mountain air welcome those who make the journey. Many families visit during the warmer months to escape the city heat. In addition, nature lovers and photographers often find inspiration in its calm rivers and open meadows.

However, reaching the valley remains a challenge. The road that leads to Sakran is rough and narrow. Cars without strong suspension struggle with the steep and rocky paths. As a result, fewer tourists explore the area, even though it offers great potential for eco-tourism.

Despite these travel difficulties, locals hope for road improvements in the near future. Better access could help bring more visitors, support small businesses, and create new job opportunities for nearby communities.

For now, Sakran remains a hidden gem for adventurers who seek beauty far from crowded spots. The valley waits quietly, untouched and pure, just beyond Choman’s eastern edge.
