Digital ID Program in KRG Surpasses Two Million Users

The digital ID program in KRG has now exceeded two million registrations. This program forms a vital part of the region’s digital transformation and aims to simplify public services. Officials introduced it to give citizens quicker and easier access to essential government services.

The Department of Information Technology launched the initiative to build a modern digital government. Citizens can register for the biometric ID in just five minutes at one of the 26 specialized centers. During registration, staff collect a personal photo, fingerprints, and an eye scan.

Once registered, each citizen receives a unique 13-digit personal number. This number acts as their official digital ID across government systems. The ID already allows people to complete Hajj forms and renew passports without extra paperwork. Authorities plan to connect it to many more services soon.

Residents have welcomed the system for its speed and convenience. Many no longer need to bring multiple documents for each process. This has helped reduce waiting times and long queues at offices.

Officials confirmed the program’s focus on reaching all citizens, including government employees, licensed drivers, and business owners. They continue to add services gradually so every resident can manage their tasks quickly and avoid unnecessary delays.
