Kurdistan: 63 Autistic Children Return to Schools

This year, 63 autistic children in the Kurdistan Region returned to schools. The return rate increased compared to previous years. The Kurdistan Regional Government continues to give special attention to these children.

Seyran Hawiz Dzayi, director of the government autism center in Erbil, explained the progress. She said returning autistic children to schools is not easy. However, her team continues efforts every day. She confirmed that five autistic children rejoined the educational process at the start of this school year.

She added that the total number of students in the center this year reached nearly 40. The government now provides meals and daily expenses for them. She also revealed that the Barzani Charity Foundation recently renovated the autism center in Erbil.

Across the Kurdistan Region, more than 3,200 children live with autism. Many families face challenges due to the high costs of treatment and limited training centers. This situation creates financial and emotional pressure for parents.

The Kurdistan Regional Government has prioritized solutions for these children. Because of this, 63 children successfully returned to basic education. Several public and private training centers now operate in different cities to support autistic children.

This development highlights a new step toward inclusion. The government, charities, and families continue to work together for better education and care.
