Distributing Wheat Payments to Farmers in Several Provinces

The Kurdistan Regional Government and the Ministry of Trade have begun distributing wheat payments to farmers in several provinces. The program aims to support local agriculture and ensure timely compensation for wheat producers.

Farmers in Sulaymaniyah and Halabja provinces will receive their payments immediately. The independent administrations of Garmian and Raperin will also benefit from today’s distribution. However, farmers in Erbil and Duhok will receive payments in the coming days due to logistical challenges.

The total wheat payment allocated to the Kurdistan Region amounts to 57 billion Iraqi dinars. The Ministry of Trade approved this amount following consent from the Prime Minister. Officials confirmed that the funds cover wheat collected from farmers during the harvest season and are intended to strengthen agricultural production in the region.

Newezad Sheikh Kamil, Director General of the Kurdistan Region’s Trade Authority, explained that 57 billion dinars will support farmers across all four provinces. Sulaymaniyah and Halabja will receive 25 billion dinars combined, Erbil 20 billion, and Duhok 12 billion. The funds are being transferred through regional banks to ensure transparency and accessibility for all farmers.

Earlier, officials noted that Erbil farmers faced challenges in receiving their full allocation in a single installment. To resolve this, the Ministry of Trade in the Kurdistan Region coordinated with local banks. The plan ensures that payments reach regional banks and are then distributed to individual farmers, overcoming previous banking restrictions.

Experts emphasize that distributing wheat payments promptly strengthens farmers’ financial stability and encourages continued agricultural investment. These efforts aim to improve crop production, support local markets, and maintain food security in the Kurdistan Region.

The wheat payments initiative also demonstrates the collaboration between the federal government and the Kurdistan Region, highlighting joint efforts to modernize agricultural management and provide timely support to farmers.

By efficiently allocating funds, the Kurdistan Region ensures that wheat farmers receive fair compensation, maintain sustainable livelihoods, and contribute to regional economic stability.
