Solar Power Systems Installation Has Increased in Sulaymaniyah

Solar energy adoption in Sulaymaniyah has increased significantly over the past two months. More than 700 households installed solar power systems, boosting electricity production through renewable energy.

The initiative aligns with the Kurdistan Regional Government’s efforts to provide 24-hour electricity to residents and expand access to clean energy. Households now have easier opportunities to generate electricity from various sources, including solar power, giving citizens greater control over their energy needs.

The General Directorate of Electricity in Sulaymaniyah reported that daily installations of solar systems have steadily increased. Over the last two months alone, more than 700 new households connected solar panels to their homes, highlighting growing public interest in renewable energy solutions.

Recent statistics show that by late September, the total number of households equipped with solar systems reached 1,746, producing a combined electricity output of 26.244 megawatts. This reflects a sharp rise from early August, when only 1,033 households had solar systems.

Authorities emphasized that the surge in installations strengthens local energy resilience, reduces reliance on traditional power grids, and promotes sustainable energy practices. Citizens now benefit from cleaner electricity, lower utility costs, and greater energy independence.

The ongoing expansion of solar power in Sulaymaniyah demonstrates the region’s commitment to modernizing its energy infrastructure. With continuous growth, solar energy is set to play an increasingly important role in meeting residential and industrial electricity needs.
