Kurdistan Investment Attracts Italian Companies

The Kurdistan Region is gaining attention as an attractive destination for Italian investors, according to Ambassador Niccolò Fontana. He emphasized that stability and security make the region a reliable partner for business and economic growth.

In an exclusive interview, the ambassador explained that Italy seeks to strengthen ties with the Kurdistan Region through investments in agriculture, trade, and education. He revealed that a delegation of Italian companies will soon visit the region to explore opportunities, particularly in the agro-industrial sector.

“We are working to attract more Italian companies to the Kurdistan Region,” Fontana said. He recalled a recent visit by Kurdish officials to Rome to discuss collaboration with Italian firms. “Expanding partnerships here will also enhance our footprint toward federal Iraq.”

Fontana highlighted that the region’s clear stability is a major factor for investors. “Italian businessmen and entrepreneurs look for security and stability. Kurdistan provides both,” he added.

Regarding travel and education, the ambassador encouraged Kurdish citizens to apply for visas to Italy. He noted a growing number of applications and projected a 35% increase by the end of the year. He advised applicants to follow procedures carefully to avoid rejections.

The ambassador also discussed Iraq’s upcoming parliamentary elections. He expressed optimism that timely elections would strengthen the country’s stability and support socio-economic growth. He stressed that a quickly formed government would sustain momentum and promote neutrality in regional conflicts.

Fontana praised Iraq’s democratic progress, pointing out the country’s consistent elections since 2003. “Regular elections show that democracy is taking root despite regional crises and internal challenges,” he said.

He concluded by reaffirming Italy’s friendship with the Kurdistan Region and its commitment to Iraq’s stability and democratic development. Earlier, Fontana met with Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani to discuss further bilateral cooperation.

Through these initiatives, Kurdistan investment is set to grow, attracting Italian companies and boosting economic, educational, and trade opportunities.
