Kurdistan Strengthens Ties with European Union

Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani met with EU Ambassador Clemens Smeter to discuss shared priorities. They focused on enhancing EU support for Iraq’s political and economic development. Furthermore, they explored initiatives to strengthen democratic institutions and electoral processes in the Region.

The leaders also reviewed ongoing developments in Iraq and Kurdistan. They discussed the formation of the new Kurdistan Regional Government cabinet and recent policy reforms. Additionally, they analyzed regional dynamics that could impact political and economic cooperation.

Ambassador Smeter praised Barzani’s leadership and highlighted his constructive approach. He reaffirmed the European Union’s commitment to supporting Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
