A high-level Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) delegation began new talks with UNESCO to deepen cooperation in education and cultural heritage. The discussions aim to enhance learning opportunities, protect historic sites, and promote cultural awareness across the Kurdistan Region.
During the visit, representatives from both sides discussed new strategies to improve access to quality education. They also explored ways to preserve ancient landmarks and promote cultural tourism. These efforts reflect a shared commitment to protecting the region’s rich history while preparing future generations for global challenges.
As part of the visit, a memorandum of understanding will be signed between UNESCO and the Kar Group, a major Kurdish oil and investment company. The agreement will focus on supporting educational projects and heritage restoration programs through public-private partnerships. This collaboration demonstrates growing engagement between international organizations and Kurdish institutions.
Officials from the KRG expressed optimism about the partnership’s potential to create lasting benefits for students, educators, and communities. UNESCO representatives praised the region’s ongoing efforts to balance modernization with cultural preservation.
Through this renewed cooperation, the KRG and UNESCO aim to build stronger institutions, expand educational access, and protect the cultural identity of the Kurdish people.
