Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Vice President Nechirvan Barzani hailed the role of youth, students, and women as the foundation of the party’s future during a major campaign rally in Erbil.
The event supported the KDP’s 275th list for the upcoming Iraqi parliamentary elections on November 11. Thousands of supporters attended, including members of various organizations and syndicates.
Barzani expressed pride in addressing the crowd. “You are the vital pillars of our society and the KDP’s political strength,” he said. “Your loyalty brings prosperity and happiness to all of us.”
He highlighted the strong participation of young people and women in the party’s structure. “Your commitment to your party and your dedicated work for the people and the country is on the right path,” he said. “Your future will flourish, and the KDP’s future will thrive with your loyalty and support.”
Barzani also reflected on his early political journey. “I began my career in the KDP through student and youth organizations,” he said. “That experience shaped my leadership. You represent a new and dynamic force for the KDP.”
He urged young members to continue their engagement, stressing that the party’s success depends on their energy and involvement.
The rally underscored the KDP’s election strategy, which focuses on mobilizing youth, students, and civil society groups to ensure a strong performance at the polls.
According to the Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission, eligible voters in the Kurdistan Region include 1,087,880 in Erbil, 1,201,846 in Sulaimani, and 778,846 in Duhok.
The KDP, one of Iraq’s most influential political parties, continues to intensify its campaign efforts across the region. Party leaders are confident that the growing participation of youth will shape both the KDP’s and Kurdistan’s political future.
