Kurdistan PM Barzani Inaugurates Historic Beri-Hajeri Hotel

Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani officially inaugurated the renovated Beri-Hajeri Hotel in Sarsank, near the Amadi district border. Covering 15,000 square meters, the hotel offers accommodations for approximately 150 guests. Established in 1946 and opened to tourists in 1951, the hotel has long been a landmark destination in the region.

The renovation modernizes facilities while preserving the hotel’s historical significance. Prime Minister Barzani highlighted the importance of private sector investment, noting that projects like the Beri-Hajeri Hotel create jobs and showcase the Kurdistan Region’s cultural heritage and natural beauty.

The reopening aligns with the KRG’s broader tourism strategy. The government aims to improve infrastructure, encourage private investments, and position Kurdistan as a safe and attractive destination for domestic and international visitors. Over the past decade, initiatives have included enhancing historical sites, developing new hotels and resorts, and investing in transportation and hospitality training programs.

Barzani emphasized that revitalizing historic hotels like Beri-Hajeri supports sustainable economic growth and strengthens local communities. The project demonstrates the KRG’s commitment to balancing modern amenities with rich cultural experiences.

Prime Minister Barzani’s active role in inaugurations underlines the government’s dedication to fostering a vibrant tourism industry. The KRG seeks to make Kurdistan a leading tourism hub in the Middle East, combining modern comfort with the region’s unique history and natural beauty.
