President Masoud Barzani has welcomed the recent agreement between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), calling it a positive step toward peace and stability in Syria. He expressed hope that the agreement will succeed in addressing long-standing issues, particularly the suffering of Kurdish communities in northern Syria.
President Barzani emphasized that dialogue, political solutions, and respect for all communities remain the only sustainable path to lasting stability. Furthermore, he highlighted that international support and careful implementation are essential to prevent renewed violence and protect civilians.
In his statement, President Barzani noted that the Syria–SDF agreement provides an opportunity for broader cooperation across Syria. He stressed that inclusive dialogue would allow all communities, including Kurds, Arabs, and other minorities, to participate in decisions affecting their future.
At the same time, he urged both sides to fully honor the ceasefire provisions and implement humanitarian measures to ensure the safety of civilians in conflict zones. Moreover, he emphasized that Kurdish leaders and regional partners must work together to support the agreement’s practical execution and guarantee aid reaches displaced families and affected populations.
President Barzani also praised the role of international actors in facilitating the negotiations. He said continued diplomatic engagement, monitoring, and backing from the international community could strengthen the agreement’s implementation.
Additionally, he stressed that military solutions cannot replace political dialogue. He added that lasting peace depends on building trust, cooperation, and reconciliation between all parties.
Finally, President Barzani reiterated that the Syria–SDF agreement represents hope for Kurdish communities who have endured prolonged suffering. He called on all stakeholders to uphold the terms, support humanitarian access, and work toward lasting peace. By promoting dialogue, collaboration, and accountability, he stressed that the agreement could serve as a model for stability and coexistence across northern Syria.
