President Masoud Barzani is set to inaugurate the 11th Mesopotamian Health Congress in Erbil, marking another milestone for the Kurdistan Region’s medical and scientific sector. The two-day international forum will bring together hundreds of medical professionals from inside the Kurdistan Region and abroad.
Organizers said the Mesopotamian Health Congress will host more than 800 doctors, specialists, and health researchers. Participants will discuss the latest developments in medicine, public health, and disease prevention. In addition, experts will exchange experiences on modern treatment methods and health system management.
The congress will focus on several key medical fields, including chronic disease control, infectious diseases, medical technology, and healthcare innovation. Speakers will also address challenges facing health systems in the region and worldwide, while highlighting successful models of medical cooperation.
Since its launch in 2008, the Mesopotamian Health Congress has maintained a strictly non-political character. Organizers emphasized that the forum aims to promote scientific exchange and professional development without political involvement. Therefore, the congress continues to attract wide participation from regional and international medical communities.
Moreover, the event plays a role in strengthening Erbil’s position as a regional hub for medical dialogue and professional training. Health officials say such conferences contribute to improving healthcare standards and expanding professional networks.
President Barzani’s participation reflects continued support for scientific progress and public health development in the Kurdistan Region. Officials noted that the congress also highlights the region’s openness to international cooperation in health and research.
