A Warning From “My Account” to Citizens: Use Only ATMs for Salary Withdrawals

The “My Account” service has alerted all public employees. Officials warned against scam messages that steal people’s salaries through fake mobile texts. Scammers pretend to offer prize money but instead trick users into sending personal codes.

One recent case in Amedi highlights the danger. A teacher with 33 years of service received repeated Arabic messages on WhatsApp and Messenger. The messages claimed he had won five million dinars. They asked him to send a small fee so they could transfer the prize. He later received a final message with a code. After replying with the code, his account was emptied immediately.

The “My Account” team issued a clear warning. They said users must never share information from unofficial sources. They repeated that people should only use official ATMs linked to “My Account” to access their salaries. This method prevents hacking and keeps users safe.

Meanwhile, Haifa Jalal, the affected teacher, called on Kurdistan authorities and banks to take action. She demanded an investigation into the scam group. She insisted they arrest those behind these attacks and recover the stolen funds.

As digital scams rise, public workers must stay alert and avoid sharing sensitive details over messaging apps.
