Five Steps to Improve Your Memory

On the occasion of World Alzheimer’s Day, doctors shared useful guidance to help people strengthen their memory and protect brain health.

Dr. Baibing Qing, a specialist in neurological disorders, introduced five simple steps that can raise memory levels when practiced regularly. He explained that daily routines play a crucial role in supporting mental sharpness.

The recommendations are easy to follow and can be included in everyday life:

  • Repeat information out loud to help the brain retain it more effectively.
  • Write down new information, since note-taking reinforces long-term memory.
  • Create different predictions, which stimulate brain activity and strengthen connections.
  • Take short breaks after learning new information to allow the brain to process it.
  • Get enough healthy sleep, which gives the brain needed rest and improves performance.

Doctors stressed that these steps, if practiced daily, can help people reduce memory loss risks and maintain cognitive skills for longer. They also encouraged people to stay socially active, eat balanced meals, and engage in physical exercise to protect overall mental health.

Experts reminded the public that memory-related diseases affect millions worldwide. More than 50 million people currently live with Alzheimer’s or other memory disorders, most of them aged above 85. The numbers highlight the importance of awareness and prevention.

By adopting these simple measures, individuals can support brain health, improve focus, and reduce the likelihood of developing serious memory conditions later in life.
