The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) announced that public employees will now receive July salaries through the MyAccount program. This digital salary system aims to modernize financial services, promote transparency, and reduce reliance on cash.
According to project officials, over 900,000 employees have already registered with the platform. Out of this number, more than 500,000 workers will collect their salaries directly through MyAccount this month. The program is becoming one of the most important steps in financial reform.
To ensure smooth payments, the Ministry of Finance received close to one trillion Iraqi dinars. The funds were deposited at the Central Bank branch in Erbil. This guarantees that employees will access their salaries without delays.
The MyAccount program is part of a broader reform agenda led by the KRG. The initiative is supported by local banks and financial institutions. It also aligns with international standards for transparency and accountability. By reducing manual cash payments, the program lowers corruption risks and strengthens financial inclusion.
Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani personally registered with the MyAccount program. He praised the young professionals working on the initiative. He also stressed its importance in building a modern financial system. His support highlights the government’s focus on digital transformation.
The impact of the MyAccount program extends well beyond finance. It is also improving other sectors, particularly education. Previously, school principals had to collect large sums of cash from banks for salaries. This system was unsafe and inefficient. Now, teachers receive their salaries directly in their own accounts. According to the education minister, this change has improved security, dignity, and professionalism.
In addition, the MyAccount program requires participating banks to invest in infrastructure. They must expand ATM networks, increase point-of-sale devices, and strengthen customer service. These requirements ensure that users across the region can access banking services easily.
Furthermore, the project excludes sanctioned institutions and follows strict financial regulations. This approach shows KRG’s commitment to building credibility and trust in its financial reforms.
The MyAccount program demonstrates Iraq’s dedication to innovation in salary distribution. It connects public employees with modern banking tools while reducing risks. At the same time, it fosters financial stability and improves daily life for thousands of families.
