The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has announced a comprehensive summer water plan, as officials push ahead with major infrastructure projects to ensure stable supply during peak demand.
Ari Ahmed said Sunday that authorities have completed seasonal preparations. He noted that teams have already taken key steps to manage water distribution effectively during the hotter months.
Officials confirmed that maintenance work on water networks has been finalized. In addition, they have increased monitoring of reservoirs and pumping stations. These measures aim to prevent shortages and improve efficiency.
The KRG also accelerated several water projects across the region. Therefore, new pipelines and treatment facilities are expected to boost supply capacity.
Ahmed stressed that coordination between departments remains essential. He added that authorities will respond quickly to any disruptions during the season.
Moreover, the plan includes public awareness campaigns. These efforts encourage citizens to use water responsibly and reduce waste.
The initiative comes as demand for water typically rises in summer due to higher temperatures and increased consumption. As a result, authorities have prioritized early preparation.
Officials say the ongoing projects will strengthen long-term water security. At the same time, they aim to support growing urban areas and agricultural needs.
Observers note that improved water management remains critical for the region’s development. Consequently, the government continues investing in infrastructure and planning.
