Kurdistan Civil Groups Demand End to Attacks and Call for Compensation

More than 300 civil organizations and public figures across Kurdistan have issued a joint protest. They directed their message to the United States and Iran consulates. They demanded an immediate halt to ongoing attacks on Kurdistan. Moreover, they called for compensation for victims affected by recent strikes.

First, the signatories included a wide range of voices from society. These included academics, journalists, lawyers, activists, and political figures. In addition, artists, writers, and diplomats also joined the initiative. Together, they expressed strong concern over continued instability in the region.

Furthermore, the statement highlighted a troubling pattern of repeated attacks. It stressed that missile and drone strikes have targeted Kurdistan for over 55 days. This period included both active conflict and a declared ceasefire. Despite the ceasefire, attacks have continued without interruption.

According to the statement, these strikes have hit civilian areas and vital infrastructure. For example, residential neighborhoods, airports, and economic facilities have faced damage. In addition, educational centers and Peshmerga positions have also come under attack. As a result, civilians have suffered casualties and injuries.

Meanwhile, the groups emphasized Kurdistan’s neutral stance in regional conflicts. They noted that officials consistently avoided involvement in external disputes. However, despite this neutrality, the region has faced heavy consequences. Therefore, the statement questioned why Kurdistan continues to face attacks alone.

Moreover, the signatories criticized the lack of international response. They pointed out that attacks in other areas have stopped following diplomatic efforts. In contrast, Kurdistan still faces ongoing threats. Consequently, they urged stronger diplomatic pressure to ensure protection for the region.

At the same time, they called on Iran to take responsibility for damages. They demanded financial compensation for affected civilians and communities. They also urged respect for Kurdistan’s sovereignty and security.

The statement stressed the urgent need for stability and protection. It called for immediate action to prevent further harm. Ultimately, the groups emphasized that lasting peace requires respect, dialogue, and accountability.
