Five Tea Habits That Make It Harmful

Tea ranks among the most popular drinks across the globe. Millions enjoy it every day, and in many cultures, it holds a special place. Yet, health experts warn about certain habits that can turn tea from a healthy drink into a harmful one.

First, experts emphasize preparing tea in the right way. When made or consumed incorrectly, it can cause health problems. Therefore, everyone should pay attention to the following mistakes and avoid them.

To begin with, drinking tea in an overly strong form irritates the intestines and leads to constipation. In addition, reusing the same tea, especially after it sits for a whole day, strips it of most of its benefits. Furthermore, drinking tea at very high temperatures can burn the intestines and damage the stomach lining.

Another mistake involves drinking tea on an empty stomach. This can reduce your appetite and disrupt normal eating patterns. Finally, drinking tea right after a meal prevents the body from absorbing iron from the food.

Around the world, tea comes in about 1,500 varieties. It also stands as the second most consumed beverage after water. In 2023 alone, people drank nearly 297 billion liters of tea worldwide. This shows its popularity, but also the importance of drinking it wisely.
