Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani visited the Erbil Rapid Water Emergency Project on Thursday, confirming that the strategic water infrastructure initiative is nearing completion. He noted that while many initially expected the project to take three years, the work has progressed much faster.
Barzani highlighted that the project has been implemented entirely using local capabilities. Domestic experts employed modern technology to ensure a reliable supply of clean, high-quality water. He emphasized that infrastructure projects like this directly improve citizens’ daily lives.
The Prime Minister praised Hemn Group, the company executing the project, noting that strong collaboration between the private sector and the government was key to the project’s acceleration.
Barzani reaffirmed the government’s dedication to delivering service projects despite financial and administrative constraints. “Our abilities are limited, but we do not want obstacles to restrict our development efforts,” he said. He stressed that citizen well-being remains the top priority, regardless of political or social affiliation.
He urged the public to use water responsibly once the system becomes operational. “We consider these efforts our duty and hope citizens benefit fully, but we ask everyone to avoid wasting water,” Barzani added.
Earlier, the Prime Minister inspected the Dwin Dam project and the nearby historic Dwin Citadel, reviewing ongoing construction and preservation efforts.
